Trixie Part 6

Trixie Part 6

“Wait a minute “Trixie said her eyes growing wide “did you say when I’m in charge? I won’t be in charge. Although the men are losing confidence in Scrag, they’re not going to turn to me. As I see it there’s three factions forming, and the strongest group is backing Refuge.”

“Well” Misty started “you’re almost correct. There’s actually five factions. There are those who still back Scrag. They are pretty small group. The largest faction actually back you, although a large number of them appear to be backing Refuge. From what I understand their thinking that Refuge has a better chance of displacing his uncle without trouble than you do. Then there’s the group that follows Ham and another group that follows Guy, but they’re both small groups.”

“You’re kidding” Trixie said skeptically “I don’t want to be in charge.”

Misty walked right up to her and looked her in the face and continued “as I see it, you’re going to be. The men will probably follow Refuge until he displaces Scrag and then either Ham or Guy will cut his throat. They’ll be a short war between Ham and Guy. You’ll have to take control and the majority of the men will follow you. There’s even a small group that think you’re already in charge. And once you gather a fairly large force, both Ham and Guy will fall in line. You’ll definitely have to take charge because neither of them are qualified.”

Looking Misty right in the eye, Trixie leaned in as she said “and you think Scrag’s just going to sit back and let this happen.”

Misty stepped back “Scrag has a plan and I think it involves you taking his place and quite soon.” There was a soft knock at the door and turning to the door she continued “yes Medina.”

Medina peeked into the room as she said “Ham is waiting downstairs for you Misty. I was wondering if I should send him up?”

“No” Misty smiled quietly “I’ll be down shortly. Just keep him waiting.” Medina left quietly closing the door behind her. Misty made her way across the room to a large wardrobe as she muttered to herself “now, Ham likes the colour green. Yes this will do nicely.” She held up a collection of very light green silks hanging on a hanger. Looking at her sister she said “what you think of this one. I got it in Norwitch a couple weeks back and I haven’t had a chance to wear it yet.” She started to put on the silks.

Trixie smiled back “I’m not sure that qualifies as clothing. You might as well go downstairs naked.”

Misty laughed “I think it looks nice and I’m sure Ham will like it.”

Continuing with senses, the sense of smell is for most peoples on Requada fairly ordinary. The orcs have the best sense of smell. With training they can identify and analyze a wide variety of smells, as well as track using their sense of smell. They also have enhanced sense of taste as a result of their amazing sense of smell. Most other races find orc cooking to be rather bland. Because Meadows only enhanced sense is her sense of smell she has trained it to a level that even most orcs couldn’t. She almost relies on her sense of smell more than her than all her other senses combined. She is actually a lousy cook because her sense of taste is so sensitive. Whenever she cooks the results are bland even to an orc. Lark on the other hand has no sense of smell, but can use Meadow’s. She also has no sense of taste, of course she couldn’t eat solid food anyway. Of the other races, rats have slightly enhanced sense of smell. They can use it to track or anything, but sometimes it will aid them in navigating in the dark. Seals have one of the more unique senses of smell. On land their sense of smell is the same as any other human, but although they can’t breathe water they can use their sense of smell underwater. Underwater they can even track using smell. Goblins have absolutely no sense of smell and for that matter taste. And it makes no difference whether they are underwater or above water, although they can breathe water.
